A meeting was held in Da Nang on Tuesday to review the implementation of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) project in the city in 2023, as well as develop a plan for 2024-2025.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Transport Nguyen Trung Nghia said that Da Nang has been effectively implementing the '5 No's, 3 Yes's' programme and 'City of 4 Safe Programmes' campaign, which was one of the important steps in simultaneously implementing the BIGRS project.

Also in 2023, the city developed a plan with four main components, including improving traffic organisation and infrastructure in accordance with the actual situation; and enhancing the management of traffic infrastructure to ensure safety and convenience for people and vehicles participating in traffic in the city.

During the meeting, participating experts exchanged experiences in traffic organisation, traffic infrastructure improvement, communication activities and data collection in accordance with the actual situation in order to propose solutions and measures in the coming time.

BIGRS Project Director Kelly Larson highly lauded the city for the effective implementation of the road traffic safety programme. She also affirmed that the active participation and support from departments, agencies and localities contributed to the overall success of the project. She voiced her hope that the project will achieve more positive results in 2024 and the following years.

He also analysed and evaluated the main causes of traffic accidents in the area, and at the same time, proposed ideas to limit road traffic accidents.
