Disbursement rate reaches 95%
The second phase of the Tho Quang Fishing Port Upgrade and Expansion Project has two construction packages Nos. 10 and 11, both of which started in January 2024 and are expected to be completed in April 2025.
The package No. 11, totalling VND 36.8 billion funded by the municipal budget, consists of items such as wastewater treatment system, landscape and trees, lighting and other auxiliary infrastructure.
Currently, the contractor has constructed the wastewater treatment station operator house; installed wastewater treatment equipment; completed the installation of underground electrical, lighting and steel pillar systems; and built fire-fighting water supply system, and underground water tank for firefighting operations.
Meanwhile, package No. 10 features the construction of piers Nos. 1 and 3; the repair of the embankment southeast of the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf; and the upgrade and renovation of the Tho Quang Seafood Wholesale Market and internal roads, at a total investment of VND 175.315 billion funded by the State budget.
According to the capital plan allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, VND50 billion will be allocated for the project with a focus on package No. 10 in 2024. As of June 30, a total of VND 47.316 billion had been disbursed to the package No.10, reaching nearly 95% of the estimates.

Proposal to add VND50 billion
Recently, the municipal government has concentrated on mobilising human resources and equipment, as well as speeding up the construction progress of the project to ensure schedule, quality and aesthetics.
At the same time, the city has coordinated with relevant units to propose the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to allocate sufficient capital to complete the construction of items in package No. 10.
According to the Da Nang Management Board of Construction and Investment Projects for Agriculture and Rural Development Works, after disbursing 95% of the total capital, the remaining capital is expected to be fully disbursed in July 2024.
With the current construction status and actual requirements, it is expected that the construction of pier No. 1 will be completed in October 2024, whilst wharf No. 3, internal concrete road and the Tho Quang Seafood Wholesale Market will be completed in January 2025.
To meet the capital demand for package No. 10, the Management Board has requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to add VND50 billion in 2024.
Director of the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Dang Huy said that the current Tho Quang Fishing Port is designed to accommodate 496 fishing ships and boats. However, during the rainy and stormy season, it is often overloaded, especially on stormy days when more than 1,000 ships and boats anchor in the port. Therefore, arranging ships and boats to anchor and ensuring safety for vehicles is a great pressure for the city.
Da Nang - one of five major fishing centres in Viet Nam Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang has just approved the planning for the system of fishing ports and storm shelters for fishing vessels in the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050. According to the planning, between 2021 and 2030, five large, harmonious fisheries centres will be formed in connection with the system of fishing ports and storm shelters in the northern city of Hai Phong, the central city of Da Nang, the south central province of Khanh Hoa, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang. In particular, the fisheries centre associated with the East Sea and Hoang Sa fishing grounds will be built in Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang. |
