The programme saw the participation of 10 tourism firms in Da Nang and Central Viet Nam: Sun Group Corporation, Vingroup Corporation (Vinpearl Joint Stock Company), Vietnam Travelmart JSC, Viet Pilgrim Company Limited, Hoiana Resort & Golf, Visit Indochina, Wyndham Danang Golden Bay, Viet Pilgrim, Asian Companion Travel, Da Nang Dreamtrip and Peony Edu Travel, along with nearly 100 major travel companies in Malaysia.

In her welcoming speech, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said that, in order to satisfy the growing demand of Malaysian tourists, Da Nang has been concentrating on investing in accommodation infrastructure, opening direct flights, and developing new tourism product, and entertainment and cuisine services, in a bid to enhance tourists’ experience in Da Nang.

As for MICE and golf tourism market segments, the city has issued incentive policies for MICE travelers and organised international golf festivals.

She added the programme focused on updating information on new events, festivals, tourism products, MICE tourism, golf, beach resorts, and cuisine, thereby opening up more opportunities for Da Nang tourism businesses to expand and connect with partners in Malaysia.

Notably, the introduction of a new direct flight between Kuala Lumpur and Da Nang was high on the agenda for the programme. Operated by Malaysia Airlines, the air route will officially open on September 24, 2024 with a frequency of 7 flights per week, increasing the frequency of flight routes between the two localities to 28 flights per week.

The opening of the new air service not only contributes to increasing the number of Malaysian visitors to Da Nang, but also facilitates the city to connect with 170 destinations that Malaysia Airlines has a flight network to, and with the markets of Indonesia, Australia, India, Europe, etc.

Da Nang has ranked 2nd among the 11 best places to visit in Asia in 2024 thanks to its strengths in beach resort tourism, world-famous hotel brands, unique theme parks, captivating nighttime entertainment activities, and rich culinary culture.

The city also has the advantage of connecting to world cultural heritages and has been honoured as “Asia's leading festival and event destination”. The growth of international visitors to Da Nang in the first 7 months of 2024 demonstrated the attraction of the destination with more than 2.4 million foreign guests staying at hotels and resorts.

Malaysia is among the top 10 international visitor sources to Da Nang and has impressive growth. Da Nang welcomed only 26,787 Malaysian visitors in 2016, but the number tripled to 88,583 visitors in 2019. In the first 7 months of 2024, 75,067 Malaysian visitors arrived in Da Nang, almost reaching the level of the whole year of 2019.

Also within the framework of their ongoing business trip to Malaysia, the city's delegation had a meeting and discussion with Malaysia Airlines. Accordingly, Da Nang requested the media agency to promote Da Nang tourism on Malaysia Airlines channels.

At the same time, the two sides will coordinate to invite Famtrip, Presstrip, and KOLs delegations to experience Da Nang’s tourism products and services and support communication to tourists in Malaysia in the near future.
