Delivering his opening speech at the event, municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh said that Semicon Da Nang 2024 was the first of its kind in the city and Central Viet Nam, marking a new milestone in the city’s development journey.

Semicon Da Nang 2024 was launched yesterday with a number of exciting activities such as field surveys of infrastructure and human resources, an exhibition on specific policy mechanisms and technical infrastructure serving the semiconductor industry, and bilateral dialogue between the city leaders and potential partners in the semiconductor industry.

Chairman Chinh informed that the event will feature two conference sessions, with one session about promoting investment in the city’s semiconductor industry in the morning, and the second about connecting supply and demand of semiconductor human resources in the afternoon.

He expressed his hope to receive valuable opinions from experts at the event, thereby perceiving, correctly assessing the current situation, and and taking effective solutions to deeply participate in the semiconductor industry value chain, thereby making Da Nang an attractive destination for investors at both home and abroad and a training centre for semiconductor human resources for domestic and export purposes.

Mr. Minh affirmed that the semiconductor industry was one of the important industries with high value and played a central role in the modern technological revolution. Over the past 30 years, the global semiconductor industry value chain has grown by leaps and bounds, forecast to generate revenue of $620 billion by 2024 and surge to $1 trillion by 2030.

The city leader informed that, located in the centre of the country and the region, Da Nang has set up diplomatic and economic relations with most of the countries that are strong in the semiconductor industry. Also, the city boasts a highly qualified and well-trained human resource, political stability, and convenient technical and transportation infrastructure.

Da Nang has received the great support from the Central Government’s leaders and the local authorities in creating a legal corridor and preferential mechanisms to promote the development of the semiconductor industry, he added.

These advantages have facilitated the city to become the country's high-tech centre with a focus on semiconductors as set out in the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW dated May 13, 2024 on continuing to implement the 12th Politburo’s Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW on building and developing Da Nang to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Since late 2023, Da Nang has quickly seized the opportunity to approach investors, promote the investment environment and opportunities, and deploy human resource training in the semiconductor industry, initially making a splash in the domestic and international semiconductor community.

The world's leading semiconductor enterprises such as Synopsys and Marvell open their representative offices in Da Nang. Meanwhile, Nvidia, Qualcom and Intel have already visited Da Nang to learn about investment opportunities and are planning to cooperate in training high-quality human resources in the city. Foxlink Group, one of the leading enterprises in Taiwan (China), has channeled US$135 million in the city and is planning to expand its investment scale in the near future.

In the context of the global semiconductor industry value chain being shaped, participating in this value chain will bring many difficulties and challenges but also open up many opportunities for the city.

Aiming to "take the lead, go fast" in developing human resources for the semiconductor industry in Viet Nam, Da Nang is looking forward to valuable contributions from domestic and foreign investors, enterprises, and experts in the planning and development orientation, thereby creating an open investment environment with appropriate support mechanisms and investment incentives, and opening up fast and effective investment opportunities for investors in this field.
