For the railway station relocation project, the city requires relevant units to work with the Lien Chieu District authorities to develop a plan for site clearance and resettlement for the station as well as update the plan for arranging resettlement land funds in the Lien Chieu seaport subdivision planning and complete pre-feasibility study report for the project.

Importance will be attached to completing the planning for seaport, airport, bayside, riverside and east bank zones at a scale 1:500 by October 2024, and the feasibility study report by October 2025.

The intention of the project is to free up land fund in the city centre for urban development and traffic congestion reduction.

Similarly, functional bodies are urgently preparing necessary dossiers for the project on building a tunnel crossing the Han River which will connect the intersection of Dong Da - Tran Phu streets in Hai Chau District to the intersection of Van Don - Tran Hung Dao streets in Son District.

Accordingly, the municipal Department of Transport has proactively worked with experts to research options as well as review and update relevant zoning plans to ensure consistency. On that basis, the unit will develop a survey plan to serve the selection of a design consulting unit to prepare a pre-feasibility study report for the project.

According to Director of the Department of Transport Bui Hong Trung, once operational, the tunnel will directly connect Hai Chau District and Son Tra District, helping to shorten travel time and enhance traffic connections between the two river banks.

The Department of Transport is responsible for preparing procedures for submitting the project’s pre-feasibility study report to the municipal People’s Committee for approval; inviting and working with experts in the field to research project options and scales; and developing tasks and surveying plans to serve the selection of a design consulting unit to compile a project pre-feasibility study report.

As planned, the selection of consulting units to prepare a pre-feasibility study report is expected to be completed in September 2024. Meanwhile, the implementation of the project’s pre-feasibility study report is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2025 and the project’s the feasibility study report in the third quarter of 2025.

Once completed, all the aforementioned transport projects will contribute to improving traffic infrastructure, reducing congestion, increasing connectivity and circulation between areas of the city, and promoting urban development.
