The event, organised by the Lao Tourism Promotion Department under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos, was part of the International East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Trade and Tourism Fair - Da Nang 2024 from August 2 - 7.

Speaking at the event, Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh informed about the city's tourism in the first 7 months of 2024. She added the central coast city of Viet Nam welcomed about 17,027 Lao tourists during that period, reaching 86% compared to the whole year of 2023.

In the coming time, Southeast Asian countries, including Laos, are potential markets included in the city’s plan to restore tourism and increase tourist exchanges.

Lao Consul General in Da Nang Souphanh Hadaoheuang remarked that tourism, as an important bridge, has contributed significantly to reinforcing the economic development and strengthening the friendship between the two countries. Viet Nam and Laos have together fully tapped and promoted many tourism potentials from beautiful natural landscapes to diverse cultural heritages.

He also underlined a must-do for Da Nang and Lao localities to work together to build long-term and specific strategies so as to turn challenges into opportunities for sustainable and comprehensive tourism development.

Within the framework of the programme, Lao and Da Nang tourism firms had the opportunity to approach, exchange, and introduce tourism information and services in the business-to-business (B2B) meeting space, thereby enhancing the bilateral exchange of visitors between the two sides.
