During their ongoing business trip to China, a delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Le Van Trung, attended the International Friendship Cities Trade Conference in Liaoning Province on Thursday.

In his remarks at the opening ceremony of the event, Chairman Trung highlighted the significance of the event in contributing to promoting friendship, mutual understanding and trust, and strengthening economic cooperation between Viet Nam and Chinese partners.

As one of the five largest cities in Viet Nam and the growth nucleus of the Central and Central Highlands Key Economic Zone, Da Nang has been laying an emphasis on developing three main pillars: tourism, high-tech industry and marine economy, he added.

Currently, Da Nang has established cooperative relations with 49 localities of 22 countries around the world, of which cooperation with Chinese localities is one of the bright spots in its international cooperation picture.

Chairman Trung proposed a number of solutions to effectively implement economic cooperation programmes between the two sides, including enhancing exchanges of information related to goods and services, import needs, and trade fairs.

This year's conference attracts more than 500 delegates from many cities around the world, including representatives of foreign diplomatic agencies in China, and Chinese and international enterprises and trade organisations.

Within the framework of the event, a talk on trade cooperation was held in the form of direct dialogue with enterprises involving in industry and agriculture.

During the talk, the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade participated in business connectivity activities, as well as displayed and promoted local typical goods and OCOP products to Chinese and international enterprises.

As scheduled, on the afternoon of September 27, the Da Nang delegation will have a meeting with leaders of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Although Da Nang and Liaoning Province have not established an official friendship, the bilateral exchange activities have been maintained since 2007. Notably, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference visited Da Nang at the end of 2023.

The cooperative relationship between the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city and the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in particular, and between Da Nang and Liaoning Province in general, is an important premise to strengthen cooperation between the two localities, especially in the fields of trade and investment.
