Continuously adding and renewing products

Da Nang’s goal in 2024 is to attract 8.4 million visitors, about 2.5 million of whom are international ones and the remainder is domestic ones. To achieve this goal, since the beginning of the year, the city’s tourism industry has been constantly striving to implement highly effective solutions.

According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in 2024, more than 20 events and festivals have been be held. Many new tourism products have been put into operation such as Da Nang Flower street; Bach Dang Walking Street; piloting the organisation of night-time tourism services on Nguyen Van Troi Pedestrian Bridge and a park near the eastern bank of Nguyen Van Troi Bridge; festival programmes such as the opening of the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season 2024; Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024, the Second Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF II) 13th Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival 2024, VietNam - Brazil Football Festival; Viet Nam - Japan Festival  2024 in Da Nang; Viet Nam - South Korea 2024 Festival in Da Nang; the tourism stimulus programme themed ‘Enjoy Da Nang 2024’ attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. Especially, the shows at Da Nang Downtown with new performances such as ‘Awaken River - The awakening river’; Symphony of River - a multi-experience show combining fireworks art; Vietnamese puppetry in succession have brought completely new experiences to visitors.

Tourism professionals believe that regularly creating new events and tourism products is a highlight of the city’s tourism, contributing to attracting both domestic and international visitors, including DIFF 2024. DIFF became a highlight of the city this summer and was still an attractive event for tourists because the number of visitors served by tourist accommodation establishments for more than one month of DIFF 2024 (from June 8 to July 13) reached more than 1.3 million, an increase of 34% over the same period of DIFF 2023.

According  to Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung, Da Nang has  made great efforts to build a tourism brand. Along with the advantage of rich tourism resources, the city completed a modern infrastructure system, fully tapped advantages in transportation (the international airport, the railway station, the seaport) and tourism service infrastructure, in tandem with attracted strategic investors and continuously created events and festivals entertaining visitors.

Da Nang has a diverse accommodation system, about 1,297 tourist accommodation establishments with 46,035 rooms (an increase of 117 establishments with 4,035 rooms compared to the same period in 2023) to serve a very large number of visitors at the same time. Currently, Da Nang has 16 regular international flights operated by airlines, which is also an advantage to attract visitors from the city’s tourist source markets.

Developing high-quality tourism

As assessed by Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Da Nang tourism has made a distinct mark with a series of outstanding domestic and international events, continually contribute to affirming the city’s popular tourism brand.

The city’s tourism development orientation with a vision towards 2045 is to make Da Nang a leading tourist destination in Asia, one of the centres of high-class, creative, green, smart, eco-tourism and sea resort tourism, and organise international conferences and festival events.

In particular, tourism products are one of the important factors to create a competitive advantage for the destination to attract visitors. Therefore, the city is focusing on implementing many synchronous solutions on innovation and creativity in tourism promotion activities, improving the quality of infrastructure for new and potential tourism products such as M.I.C.E. tourism, golf tourism, wedding tourism; developing the pillar product groups, including: high-end sea, MI.C.E., cultural and historical products, urban tourism, and ecological products of mountains, rivers and lakes that are developing in the western part of the city.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Cao Tri Dung assessed that Da Nang has done awell in building and creating new products for tourist markets. To maximize the advantages and potential of Da Nang, the tourism industry needs to continue to develop and perfect the pillar product groups; diversify tourism products to catch up with tourist trends, increase rich experiences at the destination as the basic foundation to attract tourists from many different source markets.

In order to meet the requirements and trends of customers, it is a need to standardise service organisation processes with high-quality product positioning.

In addition, it is necessary to promote eco-tourism, community-based tourism products, encourage the use of environmentally-friendly materials in accommodation facilities and at conferences. In particular, technological applications should be taken into account to service products to bring convenience and optimal experience for tourists.
