Da Nang Tourism Department raises over VND 2 billion for people in northern region

On Tuesday morning, the Da Nang Department of Tourism in partnership with the municipal Tourism Association organised a fundraiser to support people in the northern region who are suffering from the devastating consequences of recent Typhoon Yagi.

In her remarks at the event, Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh, expressed her deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of those who died or were injured, and shared the difficulties with those who lost their homes and property, due to flash flooding and landslides caused by the Typhoon.

With the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, "Love others as you love yourself" and "The whole leaf covers the torn leaf", as well as in response to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, and the Standing Board of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, the Da Nang Department of Tourism mobilised its civil servants and employees, along with members of the Da Nang Tourism Association and tourism businesses, to join hands to support people in the northern provinces and cities to overcome the aftermath of Typhoon No. 3.

At the fundraising event, a total of more than VND 2 billion was raised from the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the Tourism Association, member associations and tourism businesses.

Specifically, the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) donated VND 500 million; the Viet An Group and First Real VND 500 million; the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park and DHC Group staff VND 300 million; the Silver Shores Investment and Development Company Limited - Crowne Plaza Da Nang Hotel VND 100 million; the M Hotel VND 100 million; staff and workers of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the Tourism Promotion Centre, the Management Board of the SON Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches over VND 73 million; the Da Nang Hotel Association VND 60 million; the Da Nang Travel Association VND 30 million; and the Da Nang Tourism Transportation Association and the Tour Guides’ Association VND 40 million.

Mrs. Hanh added that the financial donation at this time was a great source of encouragement, contributing to supporting people in disaster-stricken areas to soon surmount the painful losses as well as every difficulty to stabilise their lives.

After the donation event, the Department of Tourism called on the Tourism Association and tourism businesses to continue spreading humane actions and the spirit of mutual love in an effort to support those in need.
