The Da Nang People's Committee has just approved the planning of the Innovation Subdivision with the scale of 1/2,000 and a total area of about 3,770.3ha. The orientation will be the development of a training centre associated with an university urban area, an innovative centre, a software park, supplementing a regional medical centre and connected by two main corridors: Innovation and Knowledge corridors.

Connection with Innovation and Knowledge corridors

The planning of Innovation Subdivision is located in the research area of Hoa Quy and Hoa Hai wards in Ngu Hanh Son District; Hoa Xuan, Khue Trung, Hoa Tho Tay, Hoa Tho Dong wards in Cam Le District; and Hoa Chau, Hoa Phuoc and Hoa Nhon communes in Hoa Vang District.

The subdivision borders the airport zoning and the green core central subdivision to the north; Quang Nam Province to the south; the Han River and its eastern bank to the east and the development reserve subdivision to the west.

In terms of function, the planning area will be a training centre associated with a university urban area, an innovative innovation centre, a software park, and additional regional medical centres. The area is connected by two main corridors, namely Innovation Corridor (connecting training research, high-tech production centres..) and Knowledge Corridors (connecting universities and innovation startup centres)

With a regard to population targets, the planning area will have a population of about 233,000 people by 2030.

Innovation Subdivision under the general planning project is divided into two areas: ST1 and ST2. At the subdivision planning project, it is organized into 23 units, three groups and six functional areas.

The Innovative Subdivision planning prioritizes new construction works, upgrading the main traffic routes in the subdivision, other intersections, the system of technical infrastructure works to enhance inter-connection among areas, open spaces, public spaces and squares ...

At the same time, it also prioritizes investment in building key projects such as a university urban area, a riverside urban area to the southwest of the Cau Do water plant, a creative space project in Hoa Xuan Ward and the construction of additional social infrastructure works such as Hoa Phuoc wholesale market, universities, Facility No. 2 of the Da Nang General Hospital, high-quality general hospitals serving the community.

New urban area to the south of the city

The highlight of the above-mentioned planning subdivision is the southern gateway of the city, located at the intersection of National Highway 1A and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, adjacent to the boundary of Quang Nam Province. This is also an important gateway to connect the region, transit goods and socio-economic activities in the southern region of the city.

Besides, the planning identifies three highlights with a space -oriented significance, creating characteristics and identification, namely: Mai Dang Chon - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia intersection area oriented with trade and service high-rises; Da Nang University Village located in the border area between Da Nang and Quang Nam Province serving as a typical functional area, a multi-disciplinary and multi -sector scientific research and training planned in the direction of a smart and green urban area.

In particular, the central area runs the activities of the Da Nang University Village, public service and common facilities. Functional areas including university campuses, research, startup centres, office areas, dormitories, houses, commercial houses will be integrated into the campus of universities to help create an interactive environment as well as stimulate exchange and creativity.

On the other hand, the central area is adjacent to Tran Dai Nghia, Vo Chi Cong, Mai Dang Chon, Man Quang, Cai River and the Da Nang - Quang Nam boundary with an area of about 696ha. The central area of the subdivision includes typical spaces such as the Da Nang University Village located in the border area between Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

This is a typical functional area, a typical functional area, a multi-disciplinary and multi -sector scientific research and training planned in the direction of a smart and green urban area, a regional medical centre, forming an international hospital to create links with medical universities and facilities in the region; trade and service spaces along the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia route. According to Mr. Nguyen Hoa, the Chairman of Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee, in recent years, the locality has implemented synchronous solutions, focusing on ensuring the synchronization of urban structure, ensuring harmony with other economic fields and being associated with ecological and intelligent development strategies.

Accordingly, the innovative zoning will be the driving force to attract investment, promote urban and socio -economic development of the locality. At the same time, the locality is also oriented in association with the Knowledge and Innovatiion corridors of the subdivision.

Along with the Han River and its eastern bank, the innovative zoning will promote the construction and development of Ngu Hanh Son District until 2025, a vision towards 2030 to soon become a new, creative, civilised  and modern urban area and a centre of service, tourism, hereby an important contribution to the city’s overall development, associating economic development with conservation of cultural and historical values and a strategic area of national defense and security.
