Nearly 308,000 visitors come to Da Nang during the September 2 holiday

Da Nang welcomed nearly 308,000 tourists at both home and abroad during the 4-day break for this year’s National Day holiday, up 21.2% over the same period in 2023.

Of the figure, domestic visitors were about 217,000, an increase of 23.8% over the same period in 2023, whilst the number of international visitors reached around 91,000, a rise of 15.3% over the same period in 2023.

The city’s total tourism revenue hit more than VND1.2 trillion, up 33.8% over the same period last year.

Preliminary statistics released by the municipal Department of Tourism show that during the 4-day holiday, Da Nang received 479 domestic and international flights, a slight increase over the same period in 2023 (a daily average of about 120 flights). Of which, 202 were international flights, up 10% compared to the same period in 2023 (an average of 50 flights/day), whilst 277 were domestic flights (an average of 70 flights/day). The number of holidaymakers travelling to Da Nang by train stood at about 10,678, a sharp increase of 42.43% compared to the same period last year.

According to Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh, this year’s holiday witnessed a surge in the number of vacationers travelling by train and self-sufficient means of transportation, especially between Da Nang and such neighbouring localities as Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces.

The weather during this year’s holiday was so favourable for people and tourists to swim, experience tourism services, and participate in activities and events across the city.

Accommodation establishments citywide received about 89,290 guests, a rise of 18.2% over the same period in 2023, during the 4-day holiday. The average room occupancy rate was about 50-55%, with the largest concentration of guests staying at seaside accommodation establishments and some 4-to-5 star hotels in the city centre, with individual guests accounting for 60-70%. In particular, the overall room occupancy rate for 4-to-5 star and equivalent tourist accommodation establishments is estimated at 55-65%, whilst the average room occupancy rate for 3-star or lower accommodation establishments was 35-45%.

The number of tourists experiencing sightseeing boat tours on rivers hit about 11,980, up 17% compared to the same period in 2023.

Some tourist attraction citywide welcomed a large number of visitors, including the Sun World Ba Na Hills, Asia Park, Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, Mikazuki Water Park, Marble Mountains, Hai Van Gate, and eco-tourism sites in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Bac and Hoa Ninh communes.

To ensure security and safety at tourist spots, the municipal Department of Tourism has issued documents requesting tourism service providers to ensure quality of services, and security and order.

Accordingly, tourism service providers across the city have implemented self-checking, ensuring service quality, and complying with regulations on ensuring security and order, environmental sanitation and food safety to serve people and tourists.

In addition, the Tourist Support Centre and the Tourism Rapid Response Team were always on duty to answer questions and provide information to tourists promptly and quickly.

During the holiday, the Tourist Support Centre received 1,750 visitors at the office and information counters at Da Nang International Airport, as well as provided information through 47 calls, 9 emails, and 75 messages from tourists via social networking applications.

Trains, vehicles meet high travel demand; prices of goods are stable

From August 30 to the morning of September 3, the Da Nang Railway Station recorded a total of over 29,000 passengers arriving in and departing from the city. Of the figure, 14,341 passengers boarded the train, and 14,822 passengers got off the train.

Similarly, between September 1 and 3, the city's Coach Station witnessed about 500 passenger coaches with more than 11,000 passengers arriving and departing each day, up about 30-40% compared to the same period in previous years.

The city's Coach Station and Railway Station still maintained security and order, and there was no overload or congestion during peak hours.

There was no longer overcrowding of passengers on tourist coaches. Train and bus ticket prices remained stable. Many bus companies proactively kept the same prices as normal days to support travellers during the holiday.

​​​​​Traditional markets and supermarkets citywide recorded a significant increase in the number of visitors on September 2 and 3. In general, the market this year did not have many fluctuations when prices of goods were stable, and sources of goods were abundant and diverse. Sales of fresh seafood, dried seafood, and fish sauce of all kinds increased 2-3 times compared to normal days because tourists still bought such items as gifts.
