Themed "Amazing Central Vietnam Heritage", the programme attracted nearly 100 representatives of Australian tourism businesses.

It was accompanied by the Embassy of Viet Nam in Australia, the Melbourne Government, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), the Association of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs in Australia, and the Australia - Viet Nam Business Council, along with representatives of the Departments of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue Province and Da Nang, and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam Province.

On behalf of the three localities, Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh said that thanks to the operation of direct flights between Australia and Viet Nam, Central Viet Nam is expected to be a favourite destination for sustainable eco-tourism, beach resorts, MICE and golf for Australian tourists.

She also remarked that Thua Thien Hue is the ancient capital of Viet Nam. It has 8 world heritages with a system of architecture, citadels, palaces, mausoleums and pagodas bearing a strong cultural identity that has been crystallised over many centuries.

Aside from beautiful natural landscapes, Da Nang is a dynamic, youthful city. It has risen to fame as "Asia's leading festival and event destination”, with a variety of experiences on sightseeing and entertainment activities on rivers, seas and mountains.

Meanwhile, Quang Nam Province is well-known for 2 world cultural heritages: Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary, plus the Cu Lao Cham World Biosphere Reserve.

Each locality in the central region with its own characteristics creates a magical and attractive destination, inviting visitors to explore and enrich their experiences.

Also at the programme, the tourism industries of Da Nang - Thua Thien Hue - Quang Nam jointly organised many tourism promotion activities. Included were a having space to connect businesses, screening films to promote tourism in Central Viet Nam, providing information on direct flights connecting Australia - Viet Nam, introducing tourism products and services, and organising a discussion on increasing visitor exchange between Australia and Central Viet Nam.

Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Mai, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, commented that the programme was one of the practical activities in implementing the Government's agreement on upgrading the Viet Nam - Australia bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).

She added that Melbourne is an open city in international integration, and an ideal choice for localities in Central Viet Nam to organize tourism promotion events here.

During the programme, 27 businesses participating in the program directly introduced to Australian partners new tourism products that are suitable for the tastes and needs of Australian tourists, as well as offered a comprehensive and updated view of new services and experiences for them when coming to Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam.

Tourism businesses of the 3 localities also launched many attractive promotional programmes and gave away vouchers to programme attendees.

As planned, the three central localities will then organise the programme "Heritage Journey" at the Da Nang Investment - Tourism Promotion Conference in Sydney.

Australia is currently in the top 10 international tourist sources of Central Viet Nam. In the first 7 months of 2024, the total number of Australian visitors staying in Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam reached about 165,000, accounting for nearly 59% of the total number of Australian visitors in Viet Nam.
