Da Nang honoured for 'Developing a semiconductor ecosystem for the future' solution

Da Nang has been honoured with the solution ‘Developing a semiconductor ecosystem for the future’ at the recent Viet Nam Innovation Challenge (VIC) 2024 awards ceremony.

The event was within the framework of the event ‘Viet Nam Innovation Day 2024 and the 5th Anniversary of the National Innovation Centre (NIC)’ organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment on Tuesday in the capital city of Ha Noi.

Outstandingly, Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the event. Among other special attendees were, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theory Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; leaders of national departments, ministries and branches, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary cum Head of the Da Nang Delegation of National Assembly Deputies Nguyen Van Quang.

After more than four months of launching, VIC 2024 attracted more than 750 solutions from more than 20 countries and recorded more than 3 million views and interactions on multiple platforms in the preliminary and qualifying stages alone.

After the selection process, the programme’s organising committee selected 15 best innovation solutions with diversity from many organisations, not only from Viet Nam but also from other countries and territories such as the United States, Germany, Hong Kong (China), Thailand, with many different scales.

Among the 15 solutions, ‘Developing the semiconductor sector in Da Nang: the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Training (DSAC) was honoured as the solution ‘Developing a semiconductor ecosystem for the future’.

Viet Nam’s semiconductor industry is expected to grow more than 6% during in the 2022-2027 period, as forecasted by the Southeast Asia Semiconductor Association (SEMI SEA).

Themed 'Innovation to Accelerate the Semiconductor Industry and AI to Go Global', the event aimed to honour solutions that improve the quality of the semiconductor value chain’s design, packaging and testing phases, with priority given to AI applications, and those applying AI technology to support business building and development and improve productivity.

VIC 2024 is designed to promote collaborative thinking, attract resources, and establish a multilateral cooperation platform to create a launching pad for Vietnamese businesses to enhance value and elevate their position within the global value chain.

The event provided a total prize pool of 300,000 USD for chosen innovative solutions. The winners were given a privilege support package, including technical support to survey foreign markets, co-working space and laboratories, along with opportunities to expand markets and promote their brands
