Supporting Da Nang farmers in oyster mushroom cultivation
The Agro-Forestry-Fishery Promotion Centre under the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a ceremony on October 1 at the Huong Lam village, Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, to assess a support model for growing oyster mushroom in bottles.
Accordingly, participating households have been supported by the Centre with production materials, automatic irrigation systems, iron shelves, wood-fired boilers, etc.
Staff of the Agro-Forestry-Fishery Promotion Centre discussing and guiding farmers in Huong Lam Village, Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District about the oyster mushroom cultivation model. |
To make the model effective, the Centre has assigned its staff to monitor and provide technical guidance to participating households. It has proposed the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to support funding for VietGAP certification in a bid to create conditions for qualified households to form, build and develop mushroom products into OCOP ones in the coming time.
The results of the model acceptance test showed that the participating households had processed the raw materials, packaged the mushroom spawn, and cared for and produced the first batch of products. The loss rate due to mixed fungus infection after seeding was only about 2%. The first harvest yield was estimated at about 200 kg of fresh mushrooms. In the coming time, the Centre will continue to monitor and evaluate the results of the model.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, a household participating in the model, shared that in the past, there was a high risk of output loss in the production process. Through the support of the Centre and the Office of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hoa Vang District, the model has been expanded in terms of scale, quality and output thanks to the guaranteed technical process and modern equipment investment. In addition, the model has created jobs for 4 local workers.
