This is the third time Da Nang has won the award, demonstrating the attention and drastic direction of leaders at all levels, the proactiveness of departments, branches, localities, and the active support of central ministries, organisations and localities at home and abroad. Additionally, the achievement was partly attributed to the joint efforts of people and tourists, aiming to build Da Nang into an environmentally friendly city, towards an ecological urban area.
Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quang Vinh said that Da Nang continued to be honored in the field of "Smart, green, clean environmental management city" for the third time from typical results.
In particular, the city has installed tracking devices and camera systems on garbage trucks to monitor and supervise the quality of garbage collection activities. A surveillance camera and automatic identification system has been built in the Tho Quang boat dock area to detect and manage boats entering and leaving the dock as well as promptly detect and handle illegal waste discharge. Also, a document warehouse of the natural resources and environment sector has been constructed to connect and integrate environmental data to the city's Intelligent Operation Centre (IOC).
The city has built a subsystem to manage and monitor the exploitation and use of water resources on the database and state management software specialiaed in the natural resources and environment sector. 100% of online public services have been registered and deployed at level 4, and coastal discharge point data has been digitised on GIS platform, etc.
In 2024, the city has continued to implement the project on building an information system for the archives of the natural resources and environment sector. It has issued a pilot process for connecting and resolving a number of administrative procedures under the authority of the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment with four procedures.
The construction of the abovementioned interconnected processes has reduced a total of 301 working days compared to the total number of procedures compared to normal regulations, thereby saving time for organisations, individuals and management agencies, as well as creating leverage to promote the implementation of the "3 reductions" policy in administrative procedure reform of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (reducing procedures, reducing time, reducing costs for investors).

Currently, industrial parks in the city and the Da Nang High-Tech Park all have centralised wastewater treatment systems with a treatment capacity of 33,700 m3/day and have been installed with automatic, continuous wastewater monitoring stations and data connection to the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
The city has also organised the annual "Environmental City" Press Award to recognise and encourage individuals and units participating in the dissemination of the city's important policies and guidelines on environmental protection; as well as raised awareness in the community, and mobilised all people to join hands in building Da Nang into an environmentally friendly city.
At the same time, the city has launched a movement to write articles about good people, good deeds, and spread messages, good actions, good models and initiatives in environmental protection, contributing to promoting the communication of the image of an environmentally friendly city.
In the coming time, the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment will continue to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen connections and cooperation with smart cities at home and abroad, including Japan, South Korea and countries with many investors in Da Nang. Thanks to this, the city will learn from experience and apply successful and feasible models to contribute to the successful implementation of the project on building Da Nang into environmentally friendly city in the 2021-2030 period in response to the ecological urban orientation.
