Businesses achieve many positive results

In 2024, Da Nang’s seafood exports were valued at US$220 million, an increase of 4.3% compared to 2023, being one of the key industries contributing to the growth of the city’s import-export turnover. The growth of seafood exports came from the breakthrough of key markets, and the second half of 2024 was also the period marking a strong recovery of these markets.

According to Mr. Tran Van Linh, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thuan Phuoc Seafood and Trading Joint Stock Company, the company’s production continued to be stable with the number of orders signed until the second quarter of 2025, the expected revenue in 2024 exceeded the plan, especially the profit after tax increased as compared to the same period due to the reduction of some production costs.

The company operated a factory with two workshops in the Da Nang Seafood Service Industrial Park (IP) and affiliated units in a number of provinces and cities across the country, with a maximum capacity of 7,300 tonnes of products/year.

In order to ensure continuous production and boost business, at the end of 2024, the company purchased new machinery and equipment including a shrimp boiling system with a capacity of 750kg/hour and an HQF hybrid freezing conveyor to replace the old freezing system and boiling machine with a total investment of nearly VND6.6 billion.

Similarly, the 2024 profit of the Central Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company (SEADANANG) increased significantly compared to the same period in 2023 thanks to the regulation and change in the structure of fish and shrimp products.

In addition, it invested in more modern machinery, specifically a 6-size camera-sized sorting machine to classify HOSO and HLSO whiteleg shrimp into 6 different shrimp size combinations along with other machinery worth VND6.94 billion, meeting the increasingly strict requirements on product quality and processes of the markets Japan, South Korea, the United States and Europe.

Meanwhile, the 2024 revenue of the Daiwa Viet Nam Co., Ltd. , Hoa Khanh Industrial Park reached about 103% of the annual plan. Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, the Director of the company, said that this result was achieved thanks to stable production activities and increased consumption in the company’s partner markets. In addition, the company has just invested in many machines worth tens of billions of VND to optimise productivity and improve the efficiency of the stages.

According to the representative of Foster Da Nang Co., Ltd. in the Hoa Cam Industrial Park, the company’s expected revenue in 2024 reached VND477 billion, an increase of 23% compared to 2023, reaching 107% of the annual plan. The Foster Da Nang's export turnover in 2024 reached US$19 million, equivalent to 11.5 million electronic components, reaching 107% of the 2024 plan.

Implementing acceleration solutions

According to the Da Nang Statistics Office, in 2024, the total import and export turnover of goods reached US$3.27 billion, an increase of 9.1% compared to 2023, of which goods export reached US$1.91 billion, an increase of 2.9%; goods import US$1.36 billion, an increase of 19.2%. The trade balance of goods in 2024 maintained a trade surplus of US$550 million.

Some of the city’s key products such as textiles and garments were valued at US$498 million, up by 2.9% over the same period in 2023; seafood at US$220 million, up by 4.3%; engines, electrical equipment and electronic products at US$648 million, up by 4%. In particular, some industries were approximately the same as 2023 such as handicrafts and wooden furniture at US$21.5 million; children’s toys at US$97 million, finished rubber products at US$125 million.

Mr. Tran Van Vu, the Director of the General Statistics Office, commented that Da Nang was allowed by the National Assembly to pilot a free trade zone, develop a regional international financial centre and a regional logistics centre, aiming to form a logistics service supply chain in the central region with the role of a gateway for delivery and transportation with localities and countries in the region and the world arena.

This was a favourable condition to accelerate import and export. However, in the face of the constantly fluctuating world market situation, regularly organising trade connection activities, supporting businesses to expand markets, and finding orders and partners is extremely necessary and important for the time being.

According to Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, in 2025, the city aims to increase the export turnover of goods by 8-9% compared to 2024. Import turnover of goods is projected to increase by 5-6% compared to 2024.

In a bid to achieve the above-mentioned goal, the Department will continue to implement a group of highly effective and practical solutions on policies to support the promotion of import and export activities, international economic integration, coordinate with relevant agencies and units to propose policies to develop logistics services, creating a favourable foundation to attract import and export goods circulating in Da Nang.
