To celebrate Viet Nam Family Day (28 June), about 300 Da Nang families yesterday participated in the “Women and Men Get Involved in Social Activities and Building the Community” programme at the 29 March Park.  The event was organised by the Da Nang Women’s Union.

This year’s programme aimed to raise the public’s awareness of gender equality and to decrease gender discrimination, as well as to encourage local women and men to become actively involved in political and community-building activities.  This will help to enhance the role of women in their families and in society, as well as promote their advancement.

The programme featured many exciting activities such as an exchange meeting entitled “Families Participate in Sports and Cultural Activities”, the competitions “Men Get Actively Involved in Doing Housework” and “Men Do the Cooking”, and some musical performances.  Many homemade products and dishes made by local women were also displayed at the event.  In addition, there were many food and drinks stands as well as useful advice for the participants available about health and beauty care plus food hygiene and safety.
