As its contribution to the National Sea and Islands Week 2013, the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, and the Son Tra District authorities, yesterday held a ceremony to launch this campaign in the city.

After the event, more than 1,000 representatives from the city-based armed forces, local associations, and the local community took part in a clean up of local beaches. 

The week-long programme is being held nationwide from 1 - 8 June, and it has “Together We Take Action for the National Sea” as its theme.  Its purpose is to honour the values of the sea to human life and to call for every citizen to become actively involved in making local beaches cleaner.  In addition, the programme helps the whole community to enhance their sense of responsibility for protecting the marine environment and resources, as well as safeguarding the country’s sovereignty over its sea and islands.
