Arsenal outclasses Vietnam in friendly match
UK Premier League club Arsenal found no difficulty thrashing Vietnam 7-1 in a friendly match at My Dinh stadium on July 17.
It started very well and soon opened the scoring in the 5th minute when striker Giroud received the ball from a razor-sharp pass by maestro Rosicky and defeated goalie Duong Hong Son.
In the 27th minute, forward Le Cong Vinh made a skillful shot from 25m toward Arsenal’s goal, but it narrowly went off the post.
Three minutes later, midfielder Trong Hoang was fouled near the penalty area but winger Thanh Luong’s devilish free-kick was stopped by Arsenal goalkeeper Koscielny.
In the 43rd minute Giroud doubled the scoring by a flashing shot to the far corner of the net.
The French striker completed his hat-trick in the last minute of the first-half lobbing the ball over goalie Son.
Right in the first minute of the second half Walcott made a good wall pass to Chamberlain who accurately drove the ball into the far corner of the net to make it 4-0.
Ten minutes later midfielder Ramsey passed the ball to striker Akporn who beat the Vietnamese defenders’ offside-trap and raise the scoring to 5-0.
In the 58th minute Akpom again ran fast to tap the ball into the net to finish his double.
Arsenal had it final goal in the 75th minute when striker Miguel’s powerful shot defeated substituted goalkeeper Buu Ngoc.
Vietnam’s only goal was scored in the 78th minute by Manh Dung who received the ball from the right flank and made an accurate shot to the Arsenal’s net.
Despite its heavy loss, the Vietnamese team was highly praised for bravely squaring up to its much stronger opponent.
