SHB DN drop to 2nd in the V-League
Matches in the 15th round of Viet Nam’s top-tier V-League 2013 took place at stadiums across the country on 6 and 7 July.
SHB Da Nang now drop into 2nd place in the league after Saturday’s goalless draw at home against 8th in the table Dong Nai. Home team Hoang Anh Gia Lai beat Vicem Hai Phong 1-0 at the Pleiku Stadium, thanks to a goal from midfielder Huu Long in the 53th minute, and this result takes HAGL into the top spot.
In the other matches, Ninh Binh managed to draw 1-1 at home to Song Lam Nghe An, whilst Binh Duong had an easy 5-2 away win over Dong Tam Long An at the Long An Stadium on Sunday. Thanks to a double from Samson Kayode, Ha Noi T&T defeated Saigon Xuan Thanh Cement 2-0 in their match at the Hang Day Stadium. Kien Giang suffered a 2-4 defeat to Thanh Hoa at the Thanh Hoa Stadium.

After the first 15 rounds, HAGL currently top the league with 27 points, followed by SHB DN on 26, with SLNA and HN T&T also on 26. SHB DN, however, still have one game in hand over SLNA and HAGL but, with only 3 points separating the top 5 teams, SHB DN cannot afford to miss many more chances to gain maximum points from their games, especially playing at home and against a team lower in the league. Kien Giang and Dong Tam Long An are the bottom 2, with 12 and 11 points respectively.
Matches in the 16th round of the V-League 2013 will take place at stadiums nationwide from 20 July. Before then, on 11 July, the quarter-finals of the Vietnamese National Cup 2013 will take place when SHB DN will meet QNK Quang Nam at home. Also, the Viet Nam national team will play a friendly match against English club Arsenal in Ha Noi on 17 July as one of their warm-up matches for the 2013/2014 English Premier League season.
