City gets ready for ABU Robocon 2013

The Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2013 (ABU Robocon) will take place in Da Nang’s Tien Son Sports Stadium from 16 - 20 August. 

Organised by the Viet Nam Television Station (VTV) and the city’s branch of VTV, the event will see the participation of 19 teams with over 200 contestants and a number of technical assistants.  The  teams are from Viet Nam, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Mongolia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Fiji, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Egypt and Russia. 

In addition, there will be 30 broadcasting producers, as well as officials from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Association.

The LH-SEE and LH-NVN-EAGLE teams from Lac Hong University will represent Viet Nam at this year’s competition.  After 2 months of upgrading and adjusting their robot programmes, they have speeded up the movements and shortened the operating time of their robots.  Now, the 2 host teams are ready for to produce breathtaking performances as they compete with their rivals from leading hi-tech industries in the Asia- Pacific region.

Viet Nam has not yet won any ABU Robocon championships in the past 7 years.  It is expected that one of the host teams from Viet Nam will be crowned champions of this year’s event.

Student Vo Quang Huy, the leader of the LH-SEE team, expressed his team’s determination to bring glory to Viet Nam.
