Appeal for artifacts for Museum of Da Nang
The Da Nang authorities are appealing for local residents, researchers, collectors, agencies and organisations to donate any artifacts, documents or pictures of the city to the Museum of Da Nang. Suitable items should feature the city’s history and culture, as well as reflect the revolutionary traditions through its struggles during the two resistance wars for independence. The donated items will significantly contribute to effective historical research, and help to create extensive collections relating to the city. In addition, they will help to diversify the museum’s exhibits, and to educate the younger generations about conserving the local cultural heritage.
The items will be well preserved in accordance with the city’s regulations.
The museum entrance |
The Museum of Da Nang was built between April 2005 and April 2011 on an area of the former Dien Hai Citadel. This historical relic witnessed the victory of Viet Nam over the French troops who had invaded the country in 1858.
The three-floor museum houses more than 2,500 documents, photos and artifacts which are displayed over an area of 3,000m2. The displays follow 4 main themes: the city’s geography and natural history, the struggles for independence, war crimes and the aftermath of the various wars against the French and Americans, and the cultural features of the minority ethnic groups in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.
