The Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Nguyen Phuc Linh, reports that 7 talented local athletes will be competing in the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar from 11 - 22 December.

They are walkers Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc, Nguyen Thanh Ngung and Vo Xuan Vinh, judoka fighter Nguyen Dinh Loc, weightlifter in the men's 62kg category Le Quang Trung, taekwondoka competitor Doan Thi Huong Giang, and swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc.

Due to their long-term injuries, weightlifter Tran Le Quoc Toan and taekwondoka competitor Truong Thi Nho will not be taking part.

The athletes are training hard to develop their physical strength, and are recording significant achievements.

In particular, swimmer Phuoc has been training with his Australian coach Noel Bertwistle at the city's Athlete Training Centre, whilst the walking team have been under the guidance of Coach Tran Anh Hiep.  

Thanks to their careful preparations, the city’s athletes hope to bring as much success as possible to Viet Nam and to Da Nang.
