The northern-central region qualifying round of the Golden Spoon Contest took place on Tuesday afternoon.

This cooking competition was between 9 teams from restaurants and hotels in Da Nang, Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue provinces.  First prize went to the InterContinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort whilst the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa, the Pullman Danang Beach Resort and the Saigon Morin Hotel shared the second prize.  These first and second prize winners will go through to the semi-finals, and the best teams there will advance to the final round in Binh Duong Province on 14 January 2014.  The overall winner of the contest will get an award worth 1 billion VND.

The competition is being co-organised by the Minh Long Company, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, the Business Research Centre, and the Business Support Agency.
