The South East Asia Football Federation (AFF) has picked Viet Nam  as the host country of the 2014 Southeast Asian U19 Football Championships.

Unlike the 2013 U19 Southeast Asia Championships held in Indonesia with 11 participating countries, the 2014 tournament will only have six teams, including Viet Nam , Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Australia and a guest team outside the region.

The event will be held in September 2014 to facilitate the teams with the best preparation for the Asian U19 finals which will take place in October.

To prepare for this tournament, U19 Viet Nam  will have some drilling tours at home and abroad in 2014.
First, the team will attend the U19 International Football Tournament from January 6 to 10, 2014. After the lunar New Year, the team will travel to Europe for a training course in England, France and Hungary. After this training process, it will go to Singapore to attend the youth football tournament before returning home for the U19 Southeast Asia Champs.

The AFF has also chosen Viet Nam  as the place for a draw for the 2014 AFF Cup. The draw ceremony is scheduled on July 30, 2014 in Ha Noi.

Indonesia will host the U16 Southeast Asian Championships. Malaysia will host the futsal tournament and Thailand will organize the Women's U19 Southeast Asia Champs next year.
