Viet Nam to send a 750-member team to the 27th SEA Games

Viet Nam  will send a sports team of 750 athletes and officials to take part in the 27th Southeast Asian Games to be held from December 11 to 22 in Myanmar.

They will travel on three Viet Nam  Airlines charter flights on December 4, 9, and 14.

Vietnamese athletes will compete in 29 of 33 sports at the tournament, hoping to bring home at least 70-75 gold medals. At the previous SEA Games in Jakarta two years ago, Viet Nam  ranked third with 96 gold medals after the host Indonesia with 182 gold medals and Thailand with 109 golds.

Two Vietnamese officials will leave for Myanmar on Wednesday to attend the drawing ceremony and check the accommodations of the Vietnamese national sports team.

The venues of the upcoming SEA Games will be hosted at the capital Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, and Ngwe Saung Beach of Myanmar.

The event will mark the first time in 44 years that Myanmar will host the games. The nation last acted as host in 1961 and 1969.
