Fascinating Tet activities for visitors

The number of tourist arrivals to Da Nang is expected to dramatically increase for the Tet Festival.  The city’s tourism sector and local relevant agencies are becoming actively involved in offering a wide range of entertainment activities to ensure a safe and memorable festival for both local residents and visitors. 

The pre-Tet activities include an exhibition on Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago, a Tet flower market, and a local fine arts exhibitions.  The city will also welcome in Lunar New Year’s Eve with spectacular fireworks displays.  A musical performance, the 2014 Spring Flower Festival, a circus programme, a contest entitled “Artistic Talents and Beautiful Singing Voices”, and various other events will be held during over the holiday.

In addition, a wide range of cultural and sporting activities, including “Bai choi” (singing while acting as playing cards), Chinese chess, tennis, and tug of war contests, will be organised across the city.

In an effort to attract more visitors, local tourist destinations have already implemented an environmental clean-up and eye-catching decorations.  The Maitreya Buddha statue and the Goddess of the Forest temple at the Ba Na Hills Resort are ready to welcome visitors.  As for the Marble Mountains, special attention is being paid to requiring service providers to display their prices publicly as well as to stop the harassment of tourists.  The number of visitors to local tourist attractions is expected to increase by 2% year-on-year to 82,100.

Many luxury hotels, including Crowne Plaza, the Furama, Green Plaza and Novotel, will fascinate their guests with their activities including enjoying traditional cuisine and Asian-European buffet dinners, dancing, New Year count downs, giving lucky money and introducing new tours.  The room occupancy rate at local hotels is predicted to increase between the 2nd and 5th days of the 1st lunar month.  The number of guests at local hotels is likely to rise by 25.3% year-on-year to nearly 54,000, mainly with guests from China, South Korea, Australia, the USA, Thailand and other European countries.
