The qualifying round of the 2014 National Cup took place at stadiums across the country on 8 and 9 March. 

Can Tho defeated An Giang 2-1 at the Can Tho Stadium, whilst Dak Lak beat Ha Noi 1-0 at home. 

In the other matches, Cement Fico Tay Ninh lost 0-2  at home to Binh Duong, while Sanna Khanh Hoa had a 2-1 win over Thua Thien-Hue at the Ninh Thuan Stadium.  Ho Chi Minh City suffered a disappointing 5-6 penalty shoot-out defeat to Dong Thap at the Thong Nhat Stadium.

In the quarterfinals, on 17 May Can Tho will meet Hai Phong at home, whilst Dong Tam Long An will play at home to Thanh Hoa, and Dong Nai to Hoang Anh Gia Lai.  On 18 May, the matches are Ninh Binh v QNK Quang Nam, Ha Noi T&T v Dak Lak, SHB Da Nang v Dong Thap, and Quang Ninh v Sanna Khanh Hoa.  Binh Duong will face Song Lam Nghe An at home on 20 May.
