National status suggested for Quan The Am Festival
A meeting took place in Da Nang on Monday afternoon to review the Quan The Am (Avalokitecvara) Festival which ran from 17 - 19 March at Ngu Hanh Son District's Quan The Am Pagoda. The festival’s organisers suggested that the Quan The Am Festival should be recognised as a national-level event.
The Vice Chairman of Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee, Mr Doan Ngoc Do, said that this year’s event had featured a number of solemn Buddhist traditional rituals and various exciting activities. The 3-day festival had attracted thousands of Buddhists and both domestic and foreign visitors. Most notably, it witnessed great efforts by the event’s organisers to ensure social order and security, environmental hygiene, food safety and hygiene, as well as fire fighting and fire prevention during the event. In addition, there was no evidence of beggars, street vendors, or the illegal trade in fish and birds for release. These positive results have left a good impression on both domestic and foreign tourists, as well as gaining high appreciation from the general public.
