City beaches welcome 60,000 visitors each day
As part of Da Nang Beach Tourism Season 2014, various exciting activities were held at the Eastern Sea Park on Son Tra District’s Pham Van Dong Street between 30 April and 4 May.
The Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beaches was the main organiser of last year’s event, but this year a number of coastal wards in Son Tra District were also involved. The “Ngay hoi mien bien” (Coastal Festival) featured various interesting folk games, including tug-of-war, fish-carrying, coracle racing, and fishing net knitting. These activities helped to accurately recreate the daily lives of local fishermen. The event received enthusiastic cheers from a large number of foreign visitors.

Apart from the above-mentioned activities, local residents and visitors had the opportunity to participate in numerous fascinating events for amateurs. They included a cycle race to conquer the Son Tra Peninsula, a flashmob bikini show entitled “Thuy trieu dang” (Rising Tides), and a kayak race named “Vuot Song My Khe” (Journey from the Fall of My Khe Beach). This all helped to create a bustling atmosphere on the city’s beaches over last weekend.
According to early statistics released by the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beaches, the number of tourist arrivals to the city’s beaches during the 5-day event doubled the figure for last year. Over the period, the local beaches welcomed about 60,000 visitors in total per day, and they came to swim, relax, shop and sightsee.
