General Science Library to be rebuilt
The architectural design by South Korea’s JiNa Architects Co Ltd for the rebuild of the Da Nang General Science Library on Bach Dang Street is nearly completed. The construction of the nearly 42.5 billion VND project will start in November.
The library will be rebuilt in an area of 7,000m2 on its present site. The project incorporates a 2,747m2 2-storey library area and a 497m2 2-storey administration building. The 1st floor of the library area will feature 6 rooms, including reading and reference rooms, whilst the 2nd floor is designated for a meeting hall, a book borrowing room, a main reading room, and a room for reading newspapers and magazines.

Meanwhile, the administration building will offer work space for the library’s staff members as well as providing readers with necessary services. In addition, there will be a coffee shop in the library’s outdoor area, facing towards the Han River. The existing room designated for the library’s French Club will be kept unchanged.
Following recent instructions from the city authorities, JiNa Architects Co Ltd has made some adjustments to the architectural design, with a focus on ensuring an airy and green space as well as incorporating more windows in the river-front reading rooms.
The new library will have a very favourable position, located near 2 local landmarks - the Rong (Dragon) Bridge and the new Administration Centre. Thanks to this, the new spacious and modern library is expected to become one of the city’s key cultural sites.
