Incheon 2014: Taekwondo artists bag first medals

Taekwondo martial artists grabbed two bronze medals on day 13 of the 17th Asian Games (Asiad) in Incheon, Republic of Korea (RoK), increasing Viet Nam’s medal tally to 35 – one gold, 10 silvers and 24 bronzes.

Pham Thi Thu Hien got Viet Nam’s first taekwondo bronze medal after failing 2-9 to the host country’s Lee Dabin in the women’s under-62kg semifinal.

Hien’s teammate, Ha Thi Nguyen added another bronze to Viet Nam’s collection as a result of her 2-5 semifinal defeat against another RoK opponent, Lee Wonjin in the women’s under-67kg category.

Earlier in the Thursday morning, karate artist Nguyen Hoang Ngan earned Viet Nam the 10th silver medal after losing to Japan’s Kiyou Shimizu in the women’s Kata (demonstration) final.
