Viet Nam wins friendly against South Korean student team
Minh Tuan scored twice and contributed to another to help the Vietnam men’s national team overcome their familiar opponents, the South Korean student team, 3-0 in an international football friendly at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on November 4.
Tuan jockeyed a spectacular volley after just 11 minutes to put Viet Nam ahead 1-0.
The guests squandered an opportunity to equalise two minutes later, as Choi Chi Won’s shot was not strong enough to beat goalkeeper Nguyen Manh.

Minh Tuan doubled Viet Nam’s lead in the 15th minute converting Thanh Luong’s left-wing pass with an accurate finish before delivering a convenient cross to Van Quyet who did not miss the chance to make it 3-0 for the host team.
The huge advantage rallied the Vietnamese players’ spirit and confidence enabling them to continue controlling the majority of the remainder.
The second part saw the guests’ concerted equalising efforts; however, few concrete chances were created by Korean players, save for Seo Young Kyun’s post-hitting header in the 56th minute.
The 3-0 score remained unchanged till the final whistle as Cong Vinh, Van Quyet and Anh Duc squandered opportunities to widen the gap for the host team.
With this victory, the Viet Nam national squad continues to have a successful rehearsal ahead of the upcoming 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup. The team, coached by Japanese Toshiya Miura, will depart for Ha Noi to prepare for two friendly matches against Palestine on November 9 and Malaysia a week later at My Dinh National Stadium.
