Da Nang team dive into 5th place

The diving competition at the 7th National Sports Festival ended on Tuesday at the Nam Dinh Sports Arena.  The event saw 119 divers competing from 18 teams nationwide.

After the 5 days of competition, Ho Chi Minh City’s team finished 1st with 10 gold medals, 7 silver and 2 bronze, whilst Ha Noi’s team came 2nd with 4 gold medals, 10 silver and 6 bronze.  The team from Da Nang finished in 5th place with 2 gold medals, 4 silver and 6 bronze.  Dang Minh Hieu took the gold medal in the men’s 400m scuba diving event.  The local ladies’ relay team, consisting of Nguyen Thi Lan Vy, Hoang Thi Tam, Nguyen Thi Giang and Dang Thi Minh Thuy, set a new national record of 6 mins 27.25 in the 200m using snorkels and flippers relay, breaking Ha Noi team’s previous record of 6 mins 36.26.    

In all the sports at the 7th National Sports Festival, the Da Nang team ranked 18th out of 61 teams in the medal table, bringing home 5 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze medals in total.
