Bottom of the league played top of the league – and guess who won!  SHB Da Nang had an excellent result yesterday when they beat Hai Phong 2-0 at the Chi Lang Stadium.  This first win of their V-League season moved SHB DN off the bottom of the table, and also lost Hai Phong the top spot.

The teams were tied 0-0 at the end of the first half.  Hai Phong had taken control of the game from the beginning, but their strikers Stevens and Fagan, and their midfielder Khanh Lam, missed many scoring chances due to inaccurate shots and loose combinations.  The SHB DN players had found it very hard to stop the attacks by their opponents.

Early in the second half, striker Gomez opened the scoring for the home team after receiving an accurate pass from Ngoc Thang.  Then, SHB’s midfielder Vu Phong doubled the score with a perfect free kick into the rivals’ net in the 65^th minute. 

On Saturday, Dong Thap had a 3-0 home win over QNK Quang Nam, whilst Hoang Anh Gia Lai suffered a 1-2 home loss to Quang Ninh.  Ha Noi T&T beat Dong Nai 2-0 at the Hang Day Stadium. 

In Sunday’s other matches, Binh Duong defeated Can Tho 1-3 at the Can Tho Stadium.  This victory helped Binh Duong climb back into the top spot in the league with 15 points.  Song Lam Nghe An had an easy 4-0 home win over Thanh Hoa, whilst Khanh Hoa played out a goalless home draw against Dong Tam Long An.

SHB DN's next match is at 4.30pm on Sunday 8 February, at home to QNK Quang Nam.
