The Prime Minister recently approved adjustments to the organisation of the 5^th Asian Beach Games (ABG 5) which will take place next year in Viet Nam.

ABG 5 was scheduled to be held in Da Nang and the provinces of Khanh Hoa and Binh Thuan in June 2016, but will now take place in late September 2016 and only in Da Nang.  The decision to organise the event in only one locality will allow the event’s organisers to save costs and facilitate their management of this biennial event.

In addition, windsurfing, sailing, dragon boat racing and jet-skiing will be withdrawn from the event, whilst beach petanque, beach body building and a water sports category consisting of marathon swimming and water polo, will be added.  The beach martial arts category will comprise pencak silat, vovinam, wrestling, sambo, jujitsu, kurash, muay Thai, and Vietnamese traditional martial arts.
