SHB Da Nang extended their winning streak to 3 games with a dramatic 2-0 home win over Quang Ninh (QN) last Saturday.

SHB DN took the initiative from the beginning, making continuous and varied attacks to put pressure on their rivals.  However, QN’s goalkeeper Nguyen Tuan Linh made his mark in the first half by saving shots from SHB DN’s Gomez in the 2nd minute, Ngoc Thang in the 10th and 41st, Phuoc Vinh in the 14th, and Vu Phong in the 30th.

In the 46th minute, the home team were awarded a penalty after QN’s midfielder Minh Tung tried to prevent a shot by SHB DN’s midfielder Dang Anh Tuan in the penalty area.  The penalty kick was successfully converted by Spanish striker Gomez to open the scoring.

Four minutes later, SHB’s midfielder Vu Phong doubled their score with a perfect free kick into the rivals’ net.  SHB DN managed to hold on to their lead for the rest of the game.

In the other matches, Dong Thap ended a run of 3 consecutive defeats with a convincing 2-0 home win over Ha Noi T&T, whilst Sanna Khanh Hoa beat current V-League leaders Binh Duong 1-0 at home.  Hai Phong suffered a 1-0 away loss to Dong Tam Long An at the Long An Stadium.

Dong Nai defeated Song Lam Nghe An 1-2 at Vinh City's stadium, Hoang Anh Gia Lai played out a 2-2 home draw to QNK Quang Nam, and Can Tho claimed a 1-1 home draw against Thanh Hoa.

After the first 12 rounds, Binh Duong currently top the league with 25 points, followed by Thanh Hoa on 22, and Song Lam Nghe An, Dong Tam Long An, Sanna Khanh Hoa and Quang Ninh all on 21.  SHB DN now stand in 8th place with 16 points.  Dong Nai and Can Tho are the bottom 2, with 9 and 7 points respectively.

The V-League season is now on a 2-month hiatus as players have been called to serve Viet Nam's national U23 football team that will compete in the 28th Southeast Asian Games and the qualifiers of the World Cup 2018.

The tournament will resume on 28 June.
