As part of the '2015 Da Nang - Summer Destination' programme, the 7^th Best Chef Open Competition, which had ‘Cuisines for Visitors to Da Nang’ as its theme, took place at the city’s East Sea Park on Wednesday.

Organised by the city's Tourism Promotion Centre, the annual event attracted a great deal of attention from local residents and visitors.

Over 20 amateur and professional chefs took part from hotels, restaurants and schools in Da Nang, Nha Trang, and the provinces of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam.  The contestants competed in a preliminary round in the morning and the final round in the afternoon.

First prize went to chef Nguyen Thi Han from the Pullman Danang Resort, whilst Ngo Viet Dung from Thua Thien-Hue Province’s Banyan Tree Lang Co Resort came second. 

Phan Duy Quy from the city’s Professional Chefs Club and Phan Thanh Son from Thua Thien-Hue Province’s Angsana Laguna Lang Co Resort shared the third prize.  In addition, consolation prizes were given to Pham Quyen from the Duy Tan Hotel in Thua Thien-Hue Province and Nguyen Quoc Nghi from the Vinpearl Premium Resort in Da Nang.

Meanwhile, Pham Dinh Khanh from the Avatar Hotel and Tran Thanh Hai from the Hoa Binh Hotel in Da Nang took the prizes for cooking creation and impressive food decoration respectively.

During the contest, locals and visitors had the chance to enjoy numerous exciting activities including taking photos with the dishes on display and competitions for eating ‘xuc xich’ (sausages) and drinking beer.
