Former striker Merlo wants to return to SHB DN after injury treatment
In order to be well prepared for the next football season, SHB Da Nang Football Club has already signed several foreign and domestic footballers in the recent transfer window. They are midfielder Hoang Thien from Hoang Anh Gia Lai, and striker Souleymane Diabate and midfielder Thanh Hai, both from Dong Tam Long An.
In addition, SHB DN’s former Argentinian striker Sebastian Gaston Merlo, now aged 30, has revealed that he is willing to return to the club after a break for injury treatment.

Having joined SHB DN in 2009, Merlo was the top goalscorer for the 3 consecutive V-league seasons from 2009 to 2011. In addition, he was named the most outstanding foreign footballer in the 2009 and 2011 league seasons. However, Merlo was ruled out for some of the 2012 V-League season after damaging his cruciate ligaments. He then had difficulty maintaining his place in the team due to his long-term injuries. As a result, his contract with the local club was terminated by mutual consent in 2014. After returning home, he has done his utmost to return to fitness and has been playing for the Ferro de General Pico Football Club in Argentina.
The Chairman of SHB Da Nang Football Club, Mr Bui Xuan Hoa, said that their once-formidable striker is always welcome to return to the club if he can reintegrate well into football and meet the coaching board’s requirements.
