Military team currently top in national swimming competition
The swimming competition of the 2015 National Swimming and Diving Championships is taking place at Da Nang’s Diving and Swimming Club between 15 and 19 October.
After the first 4 days of competition, Da Nang’s team had won only 4 gold medals, and they were all awarded to local swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc who has recently returned to Da Nang after treatment for an injury.
The Viet Nam Military team is currently ranked 1st with 13 gold medals, 4 silver and 2 bronze. Most notable amongst the team’s medal winners was swimming star Nguyen Thi Anh Vien with 11 gold and 2 silver medals in the women’s individual events.

The team from Ho Chi Minh City lies in 2nd place with 12 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze. On Sunday, Lam Quang Nhat from Ho Chi Minh City set a new national record of 8 minutes 16.49 seconds in the men’s 800m freestyle event. This broke the previous record of 8 minutes 17.57 seconds set by Pham Thanh Nguyen from Long An in November 2011.
