Star swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, who has become a household name after her series of recent successes at international swimming competitions, once again made up the biggest share of Viet Nam’s medal haul.

She contributed seven out of the 15 gold medals the country won at the championship.

Her last victory was in the women’s 1,500-metre event on October 4 after she completed the distance with a time of 16:56.55, well ahead of the second place Thai swimmer who finished the race in 17:34.51.

The 19-year-old also won five silver medals at the event.

After the championship, Vien will fly to the Republic of Korea to compete in the World Military Games from October 7-10.
