Various cultural activities to be held next year

Following recent approval by the Da Nang People's Committee, a wide range of fascinating festive and cultural activities will be held along both banks of the Han River and in other local public areas in 2016.

Exciting entertainment programmes and cultural activities along the banks of the Han River will include a street music programme on the Bach Dang street riverside walk every Saturday evening, and Dragon's head breathing fire and squirting water at the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge every Saturday and Sunday at 9:00pm.

A pilot steam musical performance will take place at the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge every Sunday from 7:30am to 8:30am.  In addition, the Tuong (classical drama) street performance will be held alternately at the eastern end of the Han River Bridge and the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge every Sunday evening.

Organised by the municipal Youth Union Organisation, a fascinating event entitled ‘Weekend Playground’ will be held at a park near the Novotel Danang Premier Han River every Sunday from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.  The event will feature various interesting activities, including funny games, along with hip-hop and dancing contests.

In addition, various festive and cultural activities will take place throughout the city over public holiday period and Tet festival, and during the period of international events in the city.

In particular, local audience will be treated to an exciting musical programme to welcome in the Tet Festival 2016 at a park near the eastern end of the Han River Bridge on Lunar New Year's Eve (7 February).  Another musical show to celebrate Tet will be held at a section of Bach Dang street riverside walk, opposite to the Han Market, on 13 February.

Between 17 and 20 February, some fascinating programmes will be held to welcome the participating teams of the 2015 - 2016 Clipper Round the World Race during their stay in Da Nang.  They include a ceremony to welcome the Clipper Race fleet to the city, an arts exchange programme between participating teams, a cuisine and cultural exchange fair, and a photo exhibition.

A wide range of cultural and sporting activities will be held across the city to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the city's liberation (29 March).  In particular, local residents and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy various musical programmes at the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, and a photo exhibition featuring traditional cultural values of Cotu people at the Da Nang Museum.

From April to late 2016, some large festive and cultural programmes in the city will include the Da Nang Book Festival, the Open Traditional Boat Race for the VTV Da Nang Branch Cup and an exhibition on news and arts photos. 

Various exciting sporting activities will be also be held during the 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG 5) which will take place in the city from 24 September to 3 October 2016.
