5th Da Nang Newspaper Football Tournament for pupils ends

The 5th Da Nang Newspaper Football Tournament for primary and junior high school pupils ended yesterday afternoon with 2 exciting finals.  The final for primary schools was between Ngo Gia Tu and Nguyen Van Troi, and in the junior high schools’ final Ngo Thi Nham met Huynh Thuc Khang.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the tournament, Mr Le Quang A, Da Nang Newspaper’s Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Head of the Organising Board, thanked various groups for their responsible and active involvement in organising the event successfully.  They were the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Education and Training, the Youth Union and the Tien Son Sports Arena.

He also took the opportunity to thank the sponsors for their most welcome donations to the tournament.  They were the Da Nang-Mien Trung Investment Company, the Promotion Fund for Vietnamese Football Talents, the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper Printing Company, and the Phu Hoang Transport Services Company.

Mr A said, “The 7-day tournament featured a total of 30 exciting matches, which gave the audience many different emotional experiences.  Throughout the tournament, the participating teams have always shown the spirit of fair play.  In addition, the regular presence of supporters with their ebullient cheering provided the motivation for the players to produce breathtaking performances and spectacular scores.”

In the competition for primary schools, Nguyen Van Troi were the winners and took the gold medals.  Ngo Gia Tu received the silver medals whilst Nguyen Du and Mai Dang Chon shared third place as losing semi-finalists.

In the competition for junior schools, Ngo Thi Nham were crowned the champions, whilst Huynh Thuc Khang came second.  Third place was shared by Trung Vuong and Hermann Gmeiner.

The fair play awards went to Ngo Gia Tu and Ngo Thi Nham, whilst Ngo Thi Nham and Mai Dang Chon received the awards for the most outstanding football supporters.

Le Nguyen Van Tho from Nguyen Van Troi and Nguyen Luong Tri from Huynh Thuc Khang were named the top goalscorers.  The awards for best goalkeepers went to Nguyen Huu Nhut Khang from the Nguyen Du primary school and Che Mau Quy from the Ngo Thi Nham junior high school.
