Viennot, Steffen triumph at the 2016 VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam Presented by Number 1 Energy Drink
Cyril Viennot and Caroline Steffen took out the top spots at the 2016 VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam Powered by Number 1 Energy Drink here in Da Nang.
On the men’s side, Cyril Viennot of France finished the course in 3:54:09, beating Tim Van Berkel of Australia (3:55:08) into second place and Luke McKenzie also from Australia (3:59:18), into third. Finishing fourth was Tim Reed (AUS) and Ivan Kalashnikov (RUS) finished fifth.
Meanwhile, Swiss Miss Caroline Steffen secured first place with a finish time of 4:12:18 over Czech Republic’s Radka Vodickova (4:15:46) and Aussie Liz Blatchford (4:19:46). Finishing fourth was Dimity Lee-Duke (AUS) and Keiko Tanaka (JAP) finished fifth.
Over 1,000 local and foreign participants coming from 60 countries competed on the course alongside more than 20 world-class professionals.
Ironman Asia Pacific CEO Geoff Meyer raced alongside notable Vietnamese participants such as Sunrise Events Viet Nam Managing Director Bang Trinh and VNG CEO and co-founder Le Hong Minh in one of Vietnam’s biggest international sporting events.
