Last week's many tourism and cultural activities
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) officially opened its new Da Nang-Bangkok direct flights on Sunday.
The carrier now operates 4 Da Nang-Bangkok direct return flights per week - on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays - utilising an Airbus A321. Its flight time per leg is around 1 hour 35 minutes.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung remarked “The opening of this new route will help the two localities promote their cooperative relationships in trade, investment and tourism”.
To mark the event, VNA is offering Da Nang-Bangkok tickets at promotional prices. In particular, a return ticket for economy class and business class is priced at 669,000VND and 5,499,000 VND respectively, excluding fees, taxes and surcharges. The promotion will last until 10 July, and applies for flights between 26 June and 31 December.

In addition to the opening of the new route, a wide range of cultural activities were held across Da Nang last week.
In particular, thousands of locals and visitors attended the ‘2016 Color Me Run’ at the Asia Park last Saturday. Held in Da Nang for the 2nd time, the event aimed to encourage the whole community to participate in outdoor sporting activities, and to attract more visitors to the city.

As part of the 2016 Beach-Leisure & MICE Travel Mart (BMTM Da Nang 2016), a contest entitled ‘Sustainable Tourism Awareness and Ideas Incubator’ (STAI Incubator) has been launched which will run until 15 July. The intention is to raise public awareness about promoting the sustainable development of beach tourism, and the tourism sector as a whole. Also, the event aims to encourage all young Vietnamese people to join efforts in protecting their beach environment.
Around 30 international golfers, along with invited guests and visitors to BMTM Da Nang 2016, together attended a Friendship Golf Tournament for VIPs at the Da Nang Golf Club last Saturday. The event helped to further good relations and cooperation amongst the participants, and to advertise the city’s tourism services featuring convalescence and sporting purposes.
Also last Saturday, a fascinating street show of live music and dancing took place along a section of Tran Hung Dao between the Rong (Dragon) Bridge and its intersection with Nguyen Thong.
