A charity musical performance entitled ‘A Festive Day of Childhood’ took place at Da Nang’s East Sea Park on Sunday evening.

The humanitarian event was jointly organised by the city’s Association of Charities and Children's Rights Protection, the Da Nang Newspaper, the Cong An (Police) Newspaper, the Da Nang Radio and Television, and the company Bao Nguyen Foods.

In her opening speech at the event, Ms Le Thi Tam, Chairwoman of the Association, said “This annual programme is one of my Association’s meaningful and humanitarian events which receive active support from the local public.  Over the past 5 years, the Association of Charities and Children's Rights Protection at all levels has raised around 80 billion VND in total from local organisations and individuals in order to help thousands of disadvantaged children across the city.”

Ms Tam added that numerous charitable activities have been carried out across the city.  Included were giving financial assistance for Hoa Vang District’s residents to upgrade rural areas, building charity shelters for 248 poor families, and screening ‘Writing Dreams’ reality TV shows for studious poor pupils.

Speaking at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung thanked local businesses, organisations and individuals for their generous donations to the programme.  He added that their donations would help to enhance the material and spiritual lives of local poor people, especially children.

The musical performance featured famous domestic singers such as Xuan Phu, Minh Vuong M4U, Khanh Phuong, Trung Quan Idol, Khong Tu Quynh, Khac Viet, Hoang Dang Khoa and Phuong Anh Idol.

Also at the event, the organisers presented gifts to 31 poor children.  Each gift was valued at either 3 million VND or 5 million VND.  A total of over 3.3 billion VND was raised from generous donors at the event, whilst more than 34 million VND was collected from another charity auction.
