As part of the ongoing Chef De Mission Meeting of the 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG 5) in Da Nang, a meeting recently took place to discuss health-related issues at the ABG 5 which will be held in the city from 24 September to 3 October.

Addressing the meeting, the Chairman of the Medical Committee and Anti-Doping Commission of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Dr M Jegathesan, emphasised the importance of anti-doping activities and ensuring the best healthcare services at ABG 5 and other international sporting events as a whole.  He also stressed the need for the city authorities to strictly obey the OCA-issued medical and anti-doping rules.

Dr Jegathesan offered recommendations about effectively controlling the use of banned performance-enhancing drugs by competitors and the use of prohibited medical equipment.

Representatives from the Ministry of Health and the Da Nang Department of Health will help the heads of the participating delegations to register any medical substances and equipment which they intend to use at the upcoming international-level sporting event.

The deadline for registration is 15 July, and the registration forms will be sent to relevant agencies for consideration as soon as possible.
