Vietnamese photographer wins top prize at Greek photo contest
The photo “The bedroom of General Huy” earned Lao dong (Labour) newspaper photojournalist Tran Viet Van a first prize at the Greek Photometria Awards 2016 themed “Home”.
The photo depicts the retired General and his wife in their bedroom with their wedding photo 50 years ago. Taken in 2015, the photo is in a set of eight photos “General Huy” as part of his project “War commanders at time of peace”.
Van is the only Vietnamese photographer to have his work entering the top 25 best photos of the Photometria award.
The second and third prizes went to Christos Kapatos and Davide Palmisano from Greece.
The exhibition of the 25 best photos will travel to Greece’s 12 cities.

Viet Van has won 60 international prizes throughout his career, including eight first prizes in France, the UK, the US and Australia.
He was the only Vietnamese national who was honoured at the Pollux Annual Award under the UK-based Worldwide Photography Gala Awards on four separate occasions.
In addition to these titles, he won the "Prix de la Photographie, Paris" award in France for six consecutive years.
