Over 20 contestants from the Da Nang Vocational Tourism Junior College, along with some from restaurants, resorts, hotels and bars across the city and elsewhere in the central region, competed in the 2016 Central Region Bartender Skills Competition in the city on Tuesday.

Organised by the city’s Tourism Promotion Centre, the event was part of a series of activities in the ‘Da Nang - Summer Destination’ programme.  The aim was to create a professional playground for contestants to show off their talents for mixing cocktails.

The contestants competed in 2 categories: cocktail-mixing skills and bartender skills.  They were required to ensure the balance of the flavours of ingredients, and demonstrate their professional skills and creative inspiration in cocktail-mixing.

Most notably, all the winners were from Da Nang.

In the cocktail-mixing skills category, Nguyen Quang Phuc from the OQ Lounge Pub Beer Garden won the first prize, whilst Hoang Dai Phuc from Crowne Plaza Da Nang came second.  Nguyen Truong Anh Khoa from the Nam Beverage Mixing Professional Training Centre finished third, and Vo Van Ngoc from Naman Retreat Resort Da Nang received a consolation prize.

With regard to displaying bartender skills, Tran Phuoc Hau from Sky Bar 36 took first place, whilst the second and third prizes went to Nguyen Thanh Tam from A La Carte Da Nang Beach Hotel and Le Duc Anh Quoc from the New Phuong Dong Club respectively.  In addition, consolation prizes were given to Nguyen Dinh Chi from the Nam Beverage Mixing Professional Training Centre and Huynh Van Khanh from Crowne Plaza Da Nang.
