In recent years, Bach Dang has become home to numerous beautiful cafés and other drinking and eating areas. Both local residents and visitors can now enjoy the cool breeze from the river and the beauty of the city’s colourful and sparkling bridges at night whilst sipping their coffees at cafés along the street.
Mr Tran Chi Cuong, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, says that Bach Dang is one of the city’s 8 main tourist streets with its many cafés, bars and pubs, hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and travel agencies, along with tourism, gym and spa services. Included are the BoA Café, the Highland and Cong coffee shops, the Madame Lan Restaurant, the Novotel, the Memory Lounge, the Han River Swing Bridge, Indochina Riverside Towers, the Han Market, the Green Plaza Hotel, the Bamboo 2 Bar and the Rong (Dragon) Bridge. Amongst them, Bamboo 2 Bar has become one of the most popular for both visitors and foreigners who are working and living in the city.
In addition to luxury coffee shops along the street, some fast food and drinks shops on the street’s pedestrian sidewalks also attract a great deal of attention from locals and visitors. These places are especially crowded with people at weekends as the dragon’s head breathes fire and squirts water at the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge.
Taking a trip along Bach Dang will help visitors discover the lives of local residents and the beauty of the seaside city. In the early morning and late afternoon, locals often do physical exercise or take strolls to enjoy the fresh air along the promenade. The street is also the popular place for Chinese chess lovers and anyone who wants to relax after hours of hard work.
In an attempt to attract more visitors to the city, one focus will be on making strategic plans for opening more night-time entertainment areas on the street to make Bach Dang an even more attractive venue.
